First and foremost, I have to apologize to ya’ll for my absence here on the Wallnut.  Although I still have many photos and videos to share from the trip, I’ve been burdened with a couple problems since returning.  The first is that I’ve not had internet access since leaving my brother and sister-in-law’s house in North Carolina. 

The second problem is that returning to your own society after a prolonged absence is akin to a space shuttle reentering the Earth’s atmposphere.  Okay, alright, so that’s a little melodramatic, but for Shibble’s sake, I’m still overwhealmed just by the sight of cheese.

While at the end of my stay in Vietnam, I was getting pretty excited about returning home.  I’ve now been on U.S. soil for a few weeks, and I’m still excited about returning home, as I’ve been on the move since coming back.

Number of times I’ve drank Ranch dressing: 1
When I saw the glittering silver packet of Ranch dressing on my dinner tray on the flight home, my eyes grew wide as I contemplated just slurping it from the packet. Throwing all social etiquette to the curb (like I have any in the first place), I cared not one iota what my neighbors thought as I savored most of the Shibblicious condiment sans salad.

Number of friends I’ve seen since returning home: 1
One of my best friends from High School, Andy Scheer, was in town but heading out for California Friday afternoon. I hadn’t seen Andy in nearly twenty years, and so I had to get my jet-lagged beacon outta bed to meet him for lunch before he left.

And the breakfast I ordered at the diner was nothing short of amazing; two eggs over easy covered in home fries, a bucket of sausage gravy and cheddar cheese–huzzah!!
